How does Crime Stoppers work? A person with knowledge of a crime reports it to Kingsville Crime Stoppers (phone call, online tip, text tip) and are given a code. When the person (tipster) learns that the crime was solved or somebody was arrested, their tip will go before a group of people (Crime Stoppers board) who listen to the details of the case and vote on a reward amount. The Kingsville Crime Stoppers board meets on the second Tuesday of each month. The day after the board meets (second Wednesday), the money will be left at a location in Kingsville. The tipster calls CrimeStoppers on that Wednesday and gives their code. Instructions are then given on how to pick up money. At no time does a member of law enforcement or a board member have any idea who the tipster is. It is a very effective program.
